The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia's national criminal intelligence agency. The ACIC works with state and territory, national and international partners on investigations and to collect intelligence to improve the national ability to respond to crime impacting Australia.
The role of the ACIC includes reducing serious and organised crime threats of most harm to Australians and the national interest, and providing national policing information systems and services. This is done by:
—enhancing the national picture across the spectrum of crime by developing strategic criminal intelligence assessments and advice on national crime
—working with international and domestic partners to disrupt the activities of serious and organised crime targets and reduce their impact on Australia
—conducting special operations and special investigations addressing priority areas
—developing and maintaining national information and intelligence sharing services and systems.
