SBS is Australia's primary multicultural broadcaster whose principal function is to provide multilingual and multicultural radio, television and digital services that inform, educate and entertain all Australians, and, in doing so, reflect and promote Australia's multicultural society. SBS provides services, including in-language content for Australia's multicultural society, including ethnic, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and contributes to the retention and continuing development of language and other cultural skills.
