The Asia, Middle East and Africa, and Trade Information Branch advances the interests of Australia’s industries by being steward of the agricultural relationship with its partner countries.
It participates in shaping whole of government international and domestic policies to build and maintain bilateral interactions of the department and Australian industry. This supports efforts to maintain and improve market access, resolve trade impediments and manage partner-country engagement across the portfolio.
The branch supports our overseas-based agricultural counsellors to advance Australia’s agriculture, fisheries, forestry and biosecurity agenda with key government and industry stakeholders. It also hosts the economic security function capability which enables departmental interactions with the National Intelligence Community on issues impacting global trade, and analyses trade data to inform reporting and decision-making on international trade priorities.
