Airport Environment Officers (AEOs) are appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications to assist with the administration of the Airports (Environment Protection) Regulations 1997 (the Regulations). AEOs have a number of specific statutory functions under the Airports Act 1996 and the Regulations across the 20 leased federal airports.
