The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is Australia's first national, independent Regulator for all vehicles over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR currently manages National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme accreditations and Performance-Based Standards Scheme design and vehicle approvals nationally. From 10 February 2014, the NHVR commenced administering a single set of laws for heavy vehicles under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), delivering a comprehensive range of services under a consistent regulatory framework in participating jurisdictions (all states and territories except WA and NT).
