The National Accessible Transport Steering Committee (Steering Committee) is convened by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts (the department). The Steering Committee serves as a collaborative forum for jurisdictions and the Australian Government to discuss matters related to the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards). Membership includes the department, all state and territory governments, the Australian Human Right Commission and Attorney-General’s Department. The Steering Committee also performs the role formerly undertaken by the Accessible Public Transport Jurisdictional Committee.
