The National Measurement Institute (NMI) is the division of the Department of Industry and Science which serves as Australia's peak measurement body, responsible for biological, chemical, physical and legal measurement. NMI`s measurement policy, science and regulation helps to underpin the economy and well-being of Australia, including by providing government, industry, researchers and other clients with a range of measurement services and infrastructure. NMI also administers Australia`s National Trade Measurement system, which helps ensure that transactions based on measurement are accurate.
