ICN Limited was established as an independent company in 1995. ICNL received operational funding from the Department previously to:
- nationally coordinate state-based Industry Capability Network (ICN) offices including New Zealand; and
- manage the national database of Australian industry capabilities and project opportunities.
Departmental funding to ICNL ceased on 30 June 2025. ICNL is governed by a board. The Department attends board meetings as an observer.
