The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission Board - representing Commonwealth, state and territory law enforcement and key national security and regulatory agencies -is a unified force against nationally significant crime.
The board provides strategic direction to our agency, authorises our intelligence operations and investigations, and determines whether they are deemed 'special', which allows the use of our coercive powers.
The board also makes recommendations to the minister about expenditure from the National Policing Information Systems and Services Special Account and charges for national policing information services, including criminal history checks.
The board can determine, in writing, any conditions or restrictions in relation to providing nationally coordinated criminal history checks, disclosing national policing information, and approving a body as an accredited body.
