The Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) Board was established on 2 August 2019. Its formal mandate is to provide advice to the Foreign Minister on the strategic alignment and risk of proposed AIFFP projects. It is an advisory board and does not have legislative or executive function, but is an important part of AIFFP governance. Its operations are governed by the AIFFP Board Charter.
The Board comprises four senior representatives (SES Band 3) from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, five senior representatives (SES Band 2) from the Departments of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Treasury, Finance, Defence and Infrastructure, and two independent external members. Foreign Minister Wong appointed the two independent external members and was consulted on the Australian Government representatives prior to their appointment.
