The recently announced 2023 Defence Strategic Review stated that Defence must deliver a “layered Integrated Air and Missile Defence operational capability urgently.” This will result in exciting opportunities to work on this critically important defence capability.
To protect the Joint Force, maintain peace, security and prosperity in our region, the Government is continuing to invest in the development and support of a Joint Air Battle Management System to better coordinate and synchronise Defence operations.
The AIR6500 Series Program is a collection of projects worth more than $35 billion over the next two decades with an emphasis on delivering Joint Capability across the Australian Defence Force. It will provide Australia with an effective Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) capability to preserve and protect our sovereignty and security while also promoting stability in our region.
Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) is the holistic, synchronised application of military capability across the spectrum of air and missile threats to mitigate their effect on joint operations and broader national interests.
It will consolidate and transform the ADF’s individual air defence capabilities into a persistent, layered, scalable, integrated and allied-interoperable air and missile defence architecture over the next two decades and beyond.
