Commonwealth Environmental Water Office

The Commonwealth Environmental Water Office manages environmental water set aside to keep our rivers and wetlands healthy under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. The Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder, Hilton Taylor, is an independent statutory decision-maker supported by departmental staff including seven Local Engagement Officers located in regional communities across the Basin. The Office includes two branches, which together focus on managing water for the environment across the northern and southern areas of the Basin as well as national wetland conservation.
