The Export Standards Branch works with industry stakeholders and international trading partners to maintain, improve, and establish new market access for meat, fish, dairy, eggs, animal by-products and other goods by negotiating conditions for trade, maintains and updates the Manual of Importing Country requirements (Micor), manages SAFEMEAT Secretariat, provides chemical residue and microbiological policy oversight for export certification, Australian Codex Alimentarius contact point and hosts Codex Committee on Food Import and Export Inspection and Certification; coordinates and develops policy and technical input to influence international food standards; negotiates and implements paperless certification via eCert for government-to-government in traded food and agricultural commodities.
