The Australian Chief Veterinary Officer (ACVO) adopts an overarching and strategic view of the Australian animal health system to represent Australia’s animal health status, influence the international and domestic animal health agenda, and analyse emerging animal health and biosecurity issues. We work with near neighbours to strengthen veterinary and biosecurity capacity in our region, including the Pacific. The Australian Chief Veterinary Officer is also the Australian Delegate to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). The office collaborates with stakeholders to provide technical and strategic animal health advice and leadership.
