Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority

(APVMA)
Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is the independent statutory authority responsible for agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemicals in Australia. For an agvet chemical product to legally be manufactured, imported, supplied, sold, or used in Australia, it must be registered by the APVMA – unless exempt by the Agvet Code. The APVMA scientifically evaluate the safety and efficacy (effectiveness) of products to protect the health and safety of people, animals, and the environment; and to prevent undue risk to Australia's international trade.
