The Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) is appointed by the Director of Biosecurity under the Biosecurity Regulation 2016 for the specific purpose of examining and providing comments on any aspect of a Biosecurity Import Risk Analysis (BIRA) at any stage in the process of conducting a BIRA. This includes examining or providing comment on issues that have arisen during the development of a BIRA. The SAG consists of 3 standing members of the group will includes a chair, an economist and a risk analysis specialist. Additional members may be appointed to the SAG depending on the BIRA to be conducted. SAG members are appointed for up-to four-years on a part-time basis.
