Data and Insights

Responsible for evolving the way in which the Department of Veterans’ Affairs produces and uses data, to underpin evidence-based policy development, service delivery and wellbeing outcomes. The Branch fosters a culture of curiosity in data and research, establishing processes that enable the Department to better understand and serve the needs of our clients. The Chief Data Officer (CDO) provides expert leadership and advice to the Department, the Commissions and the Minister on matters relating to the creation, collection, management and use of data and insights. The CDO represents the Department at both inter-government and external forums. As the Department's Data Champion, the CDO is tasked with promoting data use, sharing and reuse within the organisation and formally assigned rights and responsibilities to provide assurance that data is being managed in line with frameworks, policies and standards.
