Chief Health Officer of the Department of Veterans' Affairs
The Chief Health Officer (CHO) of the Department of Veterans' Affairs provides expert leadership and advice to the Department, the Commissions and the Minister on clinical and other health services and research issues related to the Department’s activities in health care, rehabilitation, compensation and commemoration. The CHO represents the Department at both inter-government and external key health forums. The role includes the provision of expert clinical advice on individual complex cases. The role is responsible for oversight and management of the Department’s contracted health care advisers in both the health and compensation areas. The CHO provides a leadership role through the provision of professional and ethical advice to committees overseeing the Department’s research program.
