The Income Support Branch provides a quality and timely service to eligible veterans and their families to ensure an appropriate level of income support. It delivers the Government’s social policy and support agenda through the administration of various means-tested benefits and allowances.
As the senior Departmental officer in location, DC South Australia is also responsible for supporting all Departmental corporate operations, service delivery, and stakeholder engagement across South Australia.
ISPB’s main service delivery responsibilities include:
• The processing of claims for service pension, qualifying service, income support supplement, veteran payment, Gold Card and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
• The processing of Income Support related reviews including reviews of pension decisions (S57), Pensioner Initiated Reviews (PIRs), risk based Department Initiated Reviews (DIRs) and Enhanced Compliance Reviews (ECP)
• Recording of deaths and payment of Funeral Benefits, Estate Payment, Bereavement Payments and war widow grants.
• Administration of the regular fortnightly pension payments, payment of arrears and Lump Sum Advances
• Provision of pension assessment as part of entry into Aged Care
• Updating of managed investments, superannuation and exchange rates
• Recovery and management of debt
• Pension related data matching with other government agencies
• Production and co-ordination of Pensioner Concession Cards (PCCs).
