Social Impact Investing Taskforce
Prime Minister and Cabinet
As part of the 2019-20 Budget, the Morrison Government has announced $5 million for the establishment of a Social Impact Investing (SII) Taskforce. The Taskforce comprises an Expert Panel appointed by the Prime Minister supported by a team within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The Taskforce will develop a strategy for the Commonwealth role in the SII market, drawing on international, private sector and state and territory government experience. The strategy will identify a way forward for Commonwealth investments in social impact investing, including how SII can provide additional solutions to address entrenched disadvantage, achieve measurable social impact and facilitate private capital investment in the SII market. The Taskforce will engage with state and territory governments, the private, not-for-profit and philanthropic sectors and with relevant Commonwealth agencies in the development of the SII strategy.
