The Aged Care Pricing Commissioner is an independent, statutory office holder appointed under the Aged Care Act 1997 who reports to the Minister for Aged Care.
The functions of the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner include:
- the approval of extra service fees;
- the approval of proposed accommodation payments that are higher than the maximum amount determined by the Minister for Aged Care;
- any other functions conferred on the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner by the Minister for Aged Care, or under Commonwealth law.
