A key role of the advisory committees is to advise the agency about actions that can be taken to address the risks to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This is a competency-based committee comprising a cross-section of stakeholder interests with expertise and experience in relevant areas. Each works closely with staff of the relevant branch and sections to ensure policy development and strategic direction are developed in consultation with stakeholders.
