On 15 December 2014, the Government announced in the Ministerial Paper Small Government - Towards a Sustainable Future that the Oil Stewardship Advisory Council will be ceased.
The Oil Stewardship Advisory Council (OSAC) is part of the Environment portfolio, and functions in an advisory capacity. Section 11 of the Product Stewardship (Oil) Act 2000 (the Act) establishes the Oil Stewardship Advisory Council. The role of OSAC is to provide the Minister with advice in relation to matters relating to oil recycling, the product stewardship arrangements for oil and the state of the oil industry. Members are paid a remuneration allowance.
