Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) previously known as the Defence Signals Directorate. ASD provides foreign signals intelligence products and services to key stakeholders in the Australian Government and the Australian Defence Force. The functions of ASD are recognised in section 7 of the Intelligence Services Act 2001. The ASD is part of the department and is not created under a separate statute.
