General Counsel - Defence

The Defence General Counsel Branch provides strategic legal advice to the Minister and the Defence Executive. It functions as a general in-house legal practice for the Department of Defence. The Defence General Counsel Branch advises in the areas of commercial law, military and general administrative law and further supports Defence through the provision of civil litigation and the administration of the Compensation for Detriment caused by Defective Administration scheme and other special financial claim arrangements. The Branch also provides advice on legislation and manages the Department’s legislation program.
