Plant Industries, Infrastructure & Workforce
The Plant Industries, Infrastructure & Workforce is comprised of the following sections: •Horticulture and Agricultural Workforce •Bulk Commodities and Agriculture Transport •Food, Wine & Taxation. The Horticulture and Agricultural Workforce section provides policy advice to government on labour markets, agricultural workforce issues and horticulture (including the Horticulture Code of Conduct), and engages with AgriFutures Australia (formerly known as the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation) on its cross-sectoral work. The section also liaises with Horticulture Innovation Australia Limited and with AgriFutures Australia on emerging horticultural industries. The Bulk Commodities and Agriculture Transport section provides policy advice to government on crops (including grains, sugar, cotton and rice) and infrastructure. Infrastructure issues include inland rail, telecommunications infrastructure, heavy vehicle road reform, vehicle emissions, city deals and quad bike safety. The section also liaises with the Grains Research and Development Corporation, Sugar Research Australia, the Cotton Research and Development Corporation and with AgriFutures Australia on rice and emerging cropping industries. The Food, Wine & Taxation section provides policy advice to government on wine, international standards, commodity tax issues and food regulation, particularly country of origin labelling, and PFAS. The section also liaises with Wine Australia.
