The Food and Supply Chain branch is responsible for the food and wine industry sector, involving, domestic food regulation, food security, food supply chain vulnerabilities, food labelling and wine policy including market access and geographic indications. The Branch also manages the Department’s participation in the Food Regulation Standing Committee and provides secretariat support to the Food and Grocery Sector Group. Additionally the branch is responsible for providing policy advice on the red meat, livestock, eggs, pork and wool industries, including managing the Department’s relationship with the following Rural Research and Development Corporations: Wine Australia, Meat and Livestock Australia, Australian Meat Processors Corporation, LiveCorp, Australian Wool Innovation, Australian Pork Limited and Australian Eggs Limited. The branch also administers the $159 million Rural R&D for profit Program and the $20 million Regional Agriculture Show Development Grants Program.
