The Australian Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation Authority was established on 1st January 2009 to create a nationally consistent and coordinated approach to organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Our role is to work with states and territories, clinicians, consumers and the community sector to build a world leading organ and tissue donation and transplantation system for Australia. We are an Australian Government statutory authority within the Health and Ageing portfolio. Our establishment is part of a national reform package that provides $151.1 million over four years. The National Office of the Authority is in Canberra from where it provides national leadership for the sector, driving the implementation and monitoring of national reform initiatives and programs.
