The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) is Australia's national agency for health and welfare statistics and information.
It is a Statutory Authority accountable to Parliament and operates under the provisions of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Act 1987.
It provides statistical information that governments and the community can use to promote discussion and make decisions on health, housing and community services in Australia. It also contributes to international statistical standards through work with the WHO and the OECD.
